Comment: Rural Jobs For Senators Grassley n Leahy

Senator Grassley (R-IA) and Senator Leahy (D-VT) have been staunch,
consistent and bipartisan champions of rural interests, and have been
effective at protecting the interests of their rural states. Both of them
have been the supporters of the EB5 program which they rightly see as
beneficial for their respective states, if properly administered. The new
TEA definition in the EB5 regulation is a major victory for rural
interests. As we argued in USCIS vs Rural Jobs [link to EC], just applying
the TEA standards in the new EB5 regulation to redeployment will create
thousands of additional rural jobs within a month or two, and 100,000+
rural jobs over the next several years. Every currently available rural EB5
project in Iowa and in Vermont and in all predominantly rural states today
will be fully funded in a few months with redeployed EB5 capital, should
USCIS adopt this simple redeployment strategy. Why have the savvy staffs of
these two Senators not stumbled upon this easy way of creating thousands of
immediate jobs in their states–which would be much quicker than jobs
created by any new EB5 investments? We trust, given their commitment to
their true salt of the earth constituents, Senators Grassley and Leahy will
soon discover this simple means of boosting their rural economies.
