Other Humanitarian Relief
There are a variety of humanitarian options for relief that are available through the U.S. immigration agencies. Some of these programs exist to address widespread issues across the globe (such as human trafficking and domestic violence) while others are connected to specific conflicts in certain parts of the world (such as the ongoing civil conflict in places like Venezuela and Cameroon). These types of applications include:
- Temporary Protected Status (“TPS”);
- Country-specific humanitarian programs, such as the Uniting for Ukraine program and special assistance for Afghan nationals;
- Assistance for survivors of domestic violence, including U visa and VAWA-based applications;
- Assistance for survivors of other violent crimes who have been helpful to law enforcement in investigating or prosecuting the crimes against them (U visas and T visas);
- Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA);
- Applications for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS);
- Humanitarian parole; and
- Special country-specific adjustment of status applications (such as applications under the Cuban Adjustment Act, Liberian Refugee Immigration Fairness, and NACARA).
