Attorney Cynthia Vivekanandam’s longtime client is now a US Citizen! Attorney Cynthia assisted the client with their original application for adjustment of status. Because the application was based on a marriage to a US Citizen that had lasted for less than two years at the time of approval, the client originally received a conditional green card. A conditional green card is valid for two years and requires an I-751 Petition to Remove Conditions be filed within 90 days of the card’s expiration date. These petitions can take years to receive a decision, and it must be approved to qualify for naturalization. Attorney Cynthia advised her client to file their naturalization application while the Petition to Remove Conditions was still pending, because the client qualified for naturalization early as the spouse of a US citizen. Because of Attorney Cynthia’s strategic recommendation, USCIS was forced to take earlier action on the Petition to Remove Conditions and approve both of the client’s applications. Congratulations to our new US citizen client!
