A client sought our assistance after the Department of State refused to renew his passport claiming he was not a US Citizen. Both his parents were deceased, and he entered the US when he was three years old. He had no proof of citizenship aside from his passport. MJB Immigration filed multiple requests for his parent’s files from different government agencies to no avail. Finally, we were able to obtain a copy of his parent’s naturalization documents from the USCIS Genealogy Program. We submitted the materials with the N-600 to document that the client automatically became a US Citizen when his parents naturalized. To complicate things further, the client’s parents changed his name during his childhood without going through the proper steps. This added another layer of difficulty to the case. After successfully responding to a Request for Evidence, the client’s N-600 was approved, and he will be issued a Certificate of Citizenship. We are thrilled for him and his family!
